Control Girl examines seven women from ancient times that had control issues. Their stories are found in the Bible. I recommend having a Bible handy to look up the verses as Shannon references them throughout the chapters. I like how I had to find the verse myself as she doesn't print them word for word in the book. I also like the subtitle of the book: Lessons on Surrendering Your Burden of Control from Seven Women in the Bible. One of the key words besides surrendering is burden. I think Control Girl can help one see that it is an unnecessary, life-sucking, joy-stealing burden to control everything and everyone in our lives.
No one wants to admit they have control issues. And giving up control means surrendering. I like how Control Girl points out that control ruins relationships, with other people and with God. If you do or don't feel you have issues with control I think this book is worth checking out. There will probably be at least one aspect that you can relate to as you read through Control Girl. l was provided a complimentary review copy of this book. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.
