The Devoted is the last book in The Bishop's Family trilogy by Suzanne Woods Fisher. This series is based in Stoney Ridge, as are several other stories she has written. I first visited Stoney Ridge when I read books in The Inn at Eagle Hill series. I so enjoyed the characters and the life of the Amish that Suzanne depicted there. That is where I met David Stoltzfus, one of the main characters in The Devoted.

In The Devoted, David is now in full bishop mode. He is a man dedicated to God. He loves his family and his community, even though they may not always be on the right path. Ruthie, one of David's children, is also a main character in this story. She has life changing decisions to make. As do other characters in the story. They all need to discover where their true devotions lie. I enjoyed the perspectives of Patrick Kelly, a young English man determined to understand and practice the ways of the Amish.
There were lots of surprises as I read through The Devoted. I did not find this book to be predictable. I am hoping that another series can spin off from the end of it. That is how much I enjoyed this story, okay, actually all the novels that I read based in Stoney Ridge. I really liked catching up with each character from other Stoney Ridge books that I have come to know and care about. Reading through The Devoted I also discovered nuggets of wisdom from the Bible, which are uplifting to the reader I believe. I would recommend reading this book and finding out for yourself what a good read it is. As David Stoltzfus said "Truth discovered is better than truth told". I was provided a complimentary review copy of The Devoted. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
