Simply Delicious Amish Cooking by Sherry Gore

Sherry Gore lives in Pinecraft, an Amish and Mennonite Community in Sarasota, Florida.  When she couldn’t find a local Amish cookbook to give to a friend, she set off on a mission to create one. Simply Delicious Amish Cooking is the second cookbook created as a result of her efforts. The recipes are from the Plain folks who live or vacation in the Pinecraft community.

Amish cooking is all about simplicity. The recipes in this cookbook have ingredients that you would have at home or are easy to find at the store. Many recipes contain processed foods, which is surprising to me coming from an Amish cookbook. There are not a lot of pictures of the recipes but the ones included look appetizing. The recipes have simple instructions. They easy to put together and sound very tasty. Many of them have a tropical feel with the addition of oranges and pineapple. Scattered among the recipes are excerpts from The Budget, an Amish and Mennonite newspaper. They give the reader a glimpse into the Amish way of life. If you enjoy recipes that are no fuss, check out this cookbook.

I enjoyed this cookbook, even though several of the recipes aren't totally made from scratch. They are so many recipes that I want to make in it. I decided to try the recipe for Iced Coffee since my older children like to drink it. The Iced Coffee was a hit, my children thought it was good.
