Crescent Rolls

My three oldest children started calling these "caterpillars" when they were very young because they thought they looked like the cute little creatures. The name has stuck at our house.

This recipe is for a bread machine. I don't make too many breads without one these days.

Crescent Rolls
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
2 tablespoons milk
1 1/4 cups warm water
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 stick margarine, cubed
4 cups flour
2 1/2 teaspoons yeast

In a small bowl, combine baking powder and milk and let sit. Meanwhile, add the remaining ingredients in order given to the bread machine pan. After the baking powder/milk mixture has started to foam add it to the bread machine pan. Follow your bread machine directions for using the dough cycle.

After the dough cycle has finished, divide the dough into two equal parts. Roll out one half of dough into a twelve inch circle. Cut the circle into 12 equal wedges. Roll up each wedge, starting with the widest side. Place the crescent rolls, pointed side down, onto as greased baking pan, bending slightly into a crescent shape. Repeat with other half. Let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees F for 15 minutes or until top is golden brown. Makes 24 rolls.
