Walnut Breakfast Ring

My Aunt Charlotte is a great cook! I have never tasted anything bad from her kitchen. She gave me this recipe in a photo album filled with recipes for a bridal shower gift. I have found several of those recipes to be some of my favorites.

Walnut Breakfast Ring
Dough:
1/2 cup hot water
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup margarine, cut into small pieces
3 3/4 cups flour
2 1/4 teaspoons dry active yeast

Filling:
1 teaspoon melted margarine
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Topping:
1/3 cup melted margarine
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon corn syrup
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Place the dough ingredients, starting with water, in a bread machine and put on dough cycle. Roll finished dough out to 1/4" to 1/2 " thick. For the filling; brush dough with 1 teaspoon melted margarine. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Roll up dough and cut into 1 inch slices. Cut each slice into 4 wedges.

In a small bowl, mix topping ingredients. Place topping in a tube pan. Add dough wedges over topping. Bake at 375 degrees F for about 20 minutes or until golden. After baking, immediately turn out of pan onto a large serving plate.
