BookReview The Christmas Singing by Cindy Woodsmall
Mattie Eash was enjoying her life in Berlin, Ohio. Her bakery was doing well and she loved her job. All the hard work of decorating was worth it as she saw the joy on the customer's faces when they saw her handiwork made for them.

Mattie was dating Sol and
couldn't ask for a nicer guy. They went on dates and enjoyed their time together. They allowed one another time to do their own hobbies. They had a very comfortable relationship. She was finally able to stop thinking about Gideon Beiler. She had dated him until he cheated on her three years ago.

Mattie's bakery burnt down so she returned home to Apple Ridge, Pennsylvania. She wasn't planning on going, but her mother's health was getting worse. She wanted to spend time with her. Mattie was planning to return to Ohio on Christmas Eve.

While Mattie was staying in Apple Ridge, her Aunt Lizzy and cousin Beth were getting married. She wanted to make their wedding cakes. She couldn't make them at her parent's house. She worked on them at Beth's new house that was being built. The only problem was that Gideon was the one working on the house.

Mattie went from being angry at Gideon to deciding to forgive him. They grew up together, so they know each other well. Mattie actually started to enjoy their time together, just like the old days. Sol decided to visit Mattie. He let her know that he'd be at the Christmas Singing on Christmas Eve waiting for her when she returned to Ohio.

Mattie found out the truth as to why Gideon broke her heart the way he did. She returned to Ohio confused by her emotions and what to do with them. When she received a package in the mail on Christmas Eve, she found her answer. Meanwhile, in Apple Ridge, Gideon decided to go to the Christmas Singing. He is sure that Mattie would never return to Apple Ridge but he wanted to keep his promise to her this one last time. When they were a couple, he told her he would always go to the yearly Christmas Singing until they were married. He kept his promise and went every year since, even after they broke up.

Maddie attended the Christmas Singing with the man she truly loved. Is it Sol, who would never break her heart? Or is it Gideon who had already broken her heart? Read The Christmas Singing to find out.

I liked Mattie as soon as she was first introduced. She was a caring person who loved people. I was anxious to find out the truth as to why Gideon hurt Mattie. It didn't match his character to do what he did. I liked how Cindy Woodsmall let everything slowly unfold. She had me really guessing about Gideon. I couldn't wait to see how everything ended. This book is one that I couldn't put down.

I received a free copy of this book from WaterBrook Multnomah for my honest review.
